When the dead become a mere count and lives just a statistic
When eyes run out of tears, numbed at the face of the horrific
When the divides of religion gouge the very fabric of humanity
In the dark days, when eye for an eye becomes sheer normality
Trudging on against a gale of blood, in the blackened terrain
Under the crushing power of hatred, distrust and disdain
Gaia’s very own virtues, purity, piety and love flounder
Shuddering, as she bows down and breaks asunder
